The Disciples of Light - History

Inception:
Brother Neals,, head of the Clerics at Northshire Abbey, Elwynn Forest, was growing increasingly tired of the corruption within Stormwind's walls and every day he would sense a lack of peace, a lack of a certain way of life that the Humans of Azeroth had followed for centuries.

He had also gained information concerning the motives of the Forsaken - the Undead race that reside in the North, led by their Queen Sylvanas Windrunner from the Undercity, beneath the ruins of the fallen City of Lordaeron. Namely that they were working on a new form of plague not just to wipe out the Scourge, but to eradicate all the races, including Humanity.

The Church decided that a special group of Humans were needed to uphold the Virtues of the Holy Light - to continue the work of the legendary Order of the Silver Hand, to spread it's teachings far and wide, help protect Alliance lands, to lay siege to all evil, combat Windrunner's Forsaken armies and apothecary works, defeat Arthas and the Scourge and to one day begin reclaiming the lost Kingdom of Lordaeron.

Brother Neals placed this task in the hands of a young Human Paladin that he had helped raise since birth - a boy named Aarian. Born to unknown parents, Aarian was found abandoned as a child and raised in the Abbey, Brother Neals seeing him as the son that he never had.

Aarian named the group The Disciples of Light, and set off to spread the word of the Holy Light around Elwynn and Stormwind, re-igniting the passion for a once-great philosophy. He began with three trusted friends - Paladins Bors Lighthammer and Morfran Keane whom were made Chaplains, and old friend Lavitz Slambert who was to lead the Magi of the Order. The Disciples set about to build up their numbers, study hard in the ways of the Light, aid the Cathedral of Stormwind, take prominence in the politics of the City, root out corruption and evil, defend Alliance lands far and wide and put in motion their crusade against the Forsaken and Scourge threats.

Documented History:
The following is an account of the history thus far of The Disciples of Light, from immediatley after it's inception to the present day…

- The colours of the Order were decided upon - Red and Gold. The logo was also introduced, as rays of light shining upward.

- 6 ranks of the Order decided upon: Master Chaplain, 2 Chaplains (Bors and Morfran), the Grand Mage (Lavitz), Knight, Knight-Errant and Squire.

- Recruitment progresses as The Disciples of Light grow their numbers and begin official training in combat and philosophy of the Light. They also begin to hold prayer sessions at The Cathedral of Light.

- The Disciples of Light gain a seat on the Stormwind Council with Aarian as Councillor and Lavitz as deputy Councillor.

- The Disciples embark on their first active duty of War as a group when they travel North to lead an Alliance offensive against the Forsaken town of Tarren Mill. The attack is remembered as one of the longest battles in recent history, but The Disciples are there until the end as they help record a famous victory for the Alliance.

- Stormwind City suffers a massive revenge attack, as the Horde descend on it’s gates with amazing numbers. The Disciples of Light are the first on the scene having scouted the Horde troops from Redridge, through Duskwood and into Elwynn. As the Horde send in over ten infernals followed by their frontlines. The Alliance, rushing to defend, are pushed back to the Keep where a last stand is made. The Horde are only just defeated, the highlight of the battle being when Chaplain Bors single-handedly took down three infernals at the Keep entrance.

- 2 Night Elven followers of the Light are inducted into the Order as Night Elf Emissaries to further links between the races. The Elves are named Zaiko and Ranchi.

- The Disciples of Light head North once again, this time to aid Seiken Trollbane and his Knights of Arathor's campaign against the Horde in the area. Victory follows with Hammerfall defeated.

- New ranks are added due to the increasing numbers joining the Order. These include Magi and Priest ranks.

- Chaplain Bors Lighthammer is captured by The Old Lordaeron, a Forsaken group, after scouting the Tirisfal Glades. A rescue mission is launched and he is found outside the sewer entrance trying to fend off over ten Forsaken. The Disciples aid him and together they defeat the band of Undead and return to Stormwind with Bors.

- The Orcs of the Red Blade descend upon the Elven lands of Darkshore and Ashenvale Forest. In a two-pronged attack, the Orcs hit the coast of Darkshore with high numbers while the other half of their forces charge into Astranaar from the East. The Disciples of Light, led into battle by their Elven emissaries Zaiko and Ranchi, heed the call for aid. After what proves to be a classic battle, The Starseeker Sentinels, Nature’s Grasp, The Shining Strand and The Disciples of Light successfully defend the Elven lands.

- “Battle of Thoradin’s Wall” was fought. Chaplain Bors Lighthammer led The Disciples army on this day. The Alliance barricaded the wall attempting to stop the Horde fleeing to Undercity with the Frozen Rose. After a bloody and brutal battle, the Horde charged the line with around half of their forces breaking through. The Horde escaped with the Frozen Rose artefact.

- “Battle of Eternal Flame” was fought. Aarian and Bors both led The Disciples in the frontline. The Westfall Lighthouse contains a flame made by forgotten magic that would not falter, through wind, water or lack of service. This flame was the only one known to be able to destroy the Frozen Rose artefact. The Alliance gathered at the Lighthouse but were out-numbered, the Horde pushing them back to Elwynn‘s borders. The “War of the Frozen Rose” culminated in Horde victory as they ransacked Westfall, but in the ensuing chaos, the Frozen Rose artefact was lost.

- After abandonment from the Stormwind Guard, The Mayor of Darkshire forms an agreement with The Dark Sphere. In exchange for the Sphere protecting the area, Darkshire offer usage of their town to the dark Order. The Disciples launch an ongoing campaign to defeat the new regime, culminating in a battle of Light versus Dark at Beggar’s Haunt as the Disciples charge a Sphere meeting. Although both sides suffer losses and injuries, this causes the Sphere to flee the town.

- “The Grand Alliance” is officially formed, known today as the “Vanguard War Council”. The Disciples of Light are founding members.

- Master Chaplain Aarian is murdered by wanted criminal Vincent Deeds. After a few days a last-ditch mass-resurrection event is held in the Cathedral of Light and Aarian is bought back into the world. Aarian attends a naming ceremony at Northshire Abbey where he is given the name “Northlight”.

- “Battle of The Dark Portal” - The Disciples of Light venture towards the Dark Portal, as weeks of rumours threaten to culminate in truth. Horde and Alliance forces gather en-masse in the Blasted Lands at the Dark Portal. Tension son spills over and days of fighting follow.

- “War on Three Fronts” campaign is launched. The Disciples aid the fight as the Alliance attacks Kargath, Stonard and Splintertree Post simultaneously, with great success.

- Aarian is captured by Blood Elves. It is revealed to him that they found Chaplain Bors just South of their settlements and killed him. Aarian is shown Bors’ bloody tabard as proof. Aarian manages to escape and returns home with the news of Bors Lighthammer’s death. The bitter, ongoing war with the Sin Belore Blood Elves begins.

- During a training session for Squires, The Disciples are attacked in The Cathedral of Light by a renegade band of Scarlet Crusaders. - The wedding of Aarian and Elixe is set to take place at the Cathedral of Light. However, with Aarian waiting at the altar, Elixe doesn't turn up, only for a messenger to rush in and reveal that she was killed by Forsaken during the battle. Chaos ensues as an attack on the City occurs at the same time, the Horde storming the ceremony to the shock of the guests. The Horde are pushed back into Elwynn and retreat.

- The Disciples manage to kidnap Kaleil Sunstrike, the son of the Sin Belore leader, Kullnar Sunstrike. They hold him hostage and interrogate him for a few days, but a taskforce of Sin Belore members manage to break him out.

- Along with a few other Alliance Orders, The Disciples of Light are entrusted with tracking down parts to a key that would unlock the whereabouts of an ancient artifact, known only as "The Eye". It had been revealed that the cultists have one part already and seek The Eye because it holds a power that would decimate all life if it were to be released into the World. The race begins to stop the cultists getting their hands on it.

- The Stormwind Civil War begins as Zaraj Blackblade, a high ranking cultist, manages to caputre the powerful artifact known as "The Eye". He threatens Stormwind City with unleashing The Eye's destructive powers, and the order is made by the King to avacuate the City and surrounding areas of the Kingdom immediatley.

- The Disciples aid the evacuation of Stormwind, as royalty, nobles, officials, guards and civilians alike are shipped across to Theramore. Work begins at trying to retake Stormwind City from the grip of Zaraj Blackblade, who has managed to recruit the poorer civilians and the underground criminal network to work for him.

- After a few months, the Civil War escalates into a final showdown, as a counter for the power of The Eye is discovered. Along with the other Orders that had been evacuated to Theramore, the Disciples of Light travel back to Stormwind City to confront Blackblade, only to find he had fled the City. A taskforce is sent out to track him down and his evil reign of Stormwind City is finally ended, as The Eye is destroyed and he is captured.
